HEXEN, the Los Angeles-based metal band that "fuses the elements of melody, heaviness, speed, and technicality within the lair of thrash," has inked a deal with OSM Records.

According to a press release, "HEXEN's influences include a very wide spectrum of sub-genres spanning from thrash to extreme/black. They have also been known to put more thought and imagination into their lyrics than your average thrash band. With subject matter expressing their cynical take on politics and inner struggles, the themes include quite strong social commentaries. While a surplus of L.A. bands are currently in futile attempts to reanimate the '80s by cloning styles and riffs of bands at the time, HEXEN incorporates all the best aspects of the art to form original music of a new and refined sound essential to their brand of metal, while retaining the hardcore spirit of thrash's originally loud, rebellious, chaotic premise."

"HEXEN brings the true meaning of old school to the table and we are very excited to have them part of the OSM Records family," comments OSM Records owner Patrick Ramseier.

HEXEN's debut album, titled "State of Insurgency", is slated for a late summer release.

ANGER AS ART, the Los Angeles-based thrash metal band featuring Steve Gaines (ABATTOIR, BLOODLUST, PAGAN WAR MACHINE, DREAMS OF DAMNATION), will take part in a live on-air interview this Saturday, February 10 on www.kbeach.org (Cal State Long Beach) at 2:00 p.m. PST. The interview will be hosted by Eric Bryan (a.k.a. Beardo Von Beardington!).

Commented Gaines: "It's gonna be cool. Eric does a nice show... even though the station demands that they play an R.E.M. song in the middle of a metal show. Can you imagine some out of touch program director forcing 'Shiny Happy People' between 'Still I Hate', and 'Blood Of My Enemies'?"

ANGER AS ART is continuing to promote its new album, "Callous And Furor", available now on OSM Records. The band has also lined up several dates on the West Coast during February/March. "These are NOT tour dates," explained Gaines. "Rather they are dates in the region that we can do before the real touring starts later in the year. At this point, a tour is like a fish story — we can tell you about the big ones that got away. But we have some things in works. And the record is doing well. We are into our second pressing, and the reviews have been solid — nothing lower than 7 out of 10."

Upcoming ANGER AS ART shows:

Feb. 17 - The Knitting Factory, Hollywood, CA (with DESTRUCTION)
Feb. 23 - The Cooler Lounge - Las Vegas, NV
Mar. 23 - Biacci's – Upland, CA
Mar. 24 - The Big Fish Pub - Tempe, AZ

OSM Records celebrates first Birthday and adds another band to its roster!

OSM is proud to announce that it has added a new band to the family.

"We are very excited to welcome Kryptos to the OSM family. Kryptos plays aggressive yet melodic thrash metal. The plan for Kryptos is to enter the studio in September to record the follow up to their acclaimed debut record Spiral Ascent for a 2007 release. In the meanwhile you can still order Spiral Ascent through OSM or via The End Records." comments Patrick Ramseier, CEO OSM Records.

Kryptos was formed in the winter of 1998 by founding members Ganesh K(Bass/Vocals) and Nolan Lewis (Guitars) with the sole purpose of paying homage to the glorious 80ıs metal/thrash scene. Over the 7 years that passed since that fateful winter, Kryptos welcomed Akshay Patel (now departed) on guitars and Ryan Colaco (Drums) into the fold and developed into a raging metallic beast of razor sharp melodic riffage and searing thrash madness.

March 18, 2006

Anger As Art have entered the studio last week to start recording the follow-up to their self-titled album.

"The most important part of recording metal is starting with great drumming.  It is the foundation on which the house stands.  Mars came in and worked his ass off and laid down some of the most monstrous metal tracks ever recorded.  Those who have seen him play, or heard his work with Coffin Texts know exactly what to expect.  Youll get that, and more.  His footwork and explosive snare drum are right on the money.  He was so well prepared that we finished drum tracks ahead of schedule, and started working on Javiers bass.  He is about half done as well, and his playing and tones are thunderous. This allows us to predict a release time tentatively in August 2006 on Old School Metal Records. (www.osmrecords.net)   The album (Callous And Furor) will consist of 13 songs.  If you like thrash, you'll love this. ", says Steve Gaines

"We are looking very much forward to this record. We have heard some rough tracks and they were sick", adds Patrick Ramseier, CEO of OSM Records.

The Future of Thrash is...very Angry!

"The Old School Metal Records family is growing, and it has a new member, which we are very proud to announce. Anger as Art, the brain child of Steve Gaines (of Abbatoir, Bloodlust, Pagan War Machine, Dreams of Damnation and Tactics fame) has signed with us!"

"The band´s line up also includes William Rustrum (of Hangar 18 and Raven Mad fame), Javier Marrufo (Sikfist, Splotch and Abraxas) on bass and Mars Castro (Demolition, Coffin Texts) on drums. So, behold non believers, Anger as Art is here to show the world that the ultimate american thrash monster has yet to be heard. The Future of Thrash is...very angry!" says Patrick Ramseier, CEO OSM Records.

This is what Steve has to say of this new partnership: “We are thrilled to
announce that we have signed with a label that believes in this music as much as we do. Not just for commercial viability but also with respect for the art (yes, pun intended) that metal music encompasses. We look forward to getting in the trenches with our family at OSM, and working to make Anger As Art  the yardstick by which thrash metal can be measured. Maybe even America's last thrash metal band. The future certainly looks promising. We welcome the challenges, and the work ahead.

OSM is a relatively new label, staffed by some of the underground metal  Community's brightest stars. Their knowledge of this music is second to none matched only by their drive to succeed. We are excited to be welcomed into the OSM family, as we welcome OSM into ours”.
